Thanks for your interest in volunteering! FA United depends upon its many volunteers to help make the convention a standout success! The convention would not be possible without the time and effort of those step forward year after year.
That said: what does a volunteer do? A variety of tasks, such as, but not limited to: helping out con staff, assisting security (monitoring the Dealer's Den, Artist's Alley and hallways), helping setup and tear down before and after the con or just lending a hand in general! We're here to make sure people are having fun, and every paw, hoof and/or tentacle is needed!
While each and every volunteers automatically earns our undying respect, we're also the kind of people who believe no good deed should go unrewarded.
Lend four hours of your time and snag a nifty t-shirt. It's sexy, stylish and keeps you warm. And if Hollywood is to be believed, shirts can be used to break out of jail cells, stop-gap mortal wounds and fix pretty much anything you can tie them around. So, if you think about it, we're not giving you a shirt so much as we are the clothing jack of all trades. And for just a few hours work? Not too shabby!
Run the gauntlet of eight hours service, and you snag a free membership for FAU6. That's almost $10,000 in savings*.
Survive the weekend by clocking in twelve hours, and we'll not only up the free membership, but we'll boost it up to Sponsor Level and toss in the shirt, too!
Still interested in volunteering? That's the spirit! Sign up at the convention or send an e-mail over to volunteers2012 [at] faunited.org and we'll add your name to our volunteer list!.
Love,
The FA: United staff
